Employee Spotlight: Bryna Von Dorsten – 17 Years of Impact at Point Quest Group

Bryna Von Dorsten - Sr. Director, In-District Services

For 17 years, Bryna Von Dorsten has been a driving force behind Point Quest Group's behavioral health programs. As Senior Director of In-District Services, she oversees the clinical and operational direction of behavioral health services across California, working alongside public school districts and charter schools to support students with special needs.

Her journey into special education and behavioral health began with a deeply personal inspiration: her brother, Marcus, who was diagnosed with Autism during a time when resources were scarce.

"I watched firsthand as he walked through his educational career with roadblock after roadblock and little understanding of how to best support him," Bryna recalls. "I always knew I wanted to do something in this field; I just didn't know what it looked like."

Today, Bryna leads the teams who work directly with students and families every day. Her department braids seamlessly into school systems, ensuring students receive the support they need in the least restrictive environment.

"I get to train, educate, support, and advocate for the very students my brother was – and it's rewarding every single day."

Building Systems That Support Students and Staff

In her role, Bryna oversees everything from building strong clinical frameworks to ensuring staff have the resources they need to do their best work. She supports the professionals who support the students, creating sustainable systems that improve outcomes for everyone.

"A lot of people don't realize how much of behavioral health work is collaborative," she explains. "We're constantly working alongside educators, families, outside therapists, and administrators to make sure everyone is aligned. It's not just one person with one client –it's building and sustaining an entire ecosystem of support."

That coordination extends to creating career pathways for the next generation of behavioral health professionals. Bryna takes particular pride in mentoring staff early in their careers and watching them develop into confident providers, supervisors, and managers.

"Watching people grow, both the kids we serve and the staff I get to mentor, is incredibly meaningful," she says. "Those breakthrough moments never get old. Our team actually shares success stories during our monthly meetings. It boosts morale, reminds us why we do what we do, and it's just so cool to hear."

A Career Built on Passion and Purpose

Bryna's path to Point Quest Group was shaped by the belief that behavioral health sits at a powerful intersection of science, compassion, and advocacy.

"The impact that the right support at the right time could have on a child or family…” she reflects. "There's nothing quite like it."

Her career has been defined by a commitment to doing the right thing for students and families, even when it's the harder path. That value, she says, aligns perfectly with Point Quest Group's culture.

"What drew me to Point Quest Group is that commitment is woven into the culture here," she shares. "It's not just a mission statement; it shows up in how decisions get made, how staff are supported, and how we show up for the communities we serve. There's something special about working alongside passionate, likeminded individuals who believe in making our programs better year after year."

Bryna's Advice for Aspiring Behavioral Health Professionals:

"Be patient with yourself and stay curious. This field evolves constantly, and the best colleagues I know are lifelong learners. Find mentors early, ask a lot of questions, and don't underestimate the value of direct experience with clients – there's no substitute for it."

Life Beyond Work

When she's not leading behavioral health programs, Bryna spends time outdoors with her two kids and husband, hiking, rafting, camping, and wrangling their two energetic dogs.

"Anytime we spend together is the best time," she says.

As for hidden talents? She admits she has always wanted to be an actress on Saturday Night Live, and she can wiggle her ears!

Point Quest Group is proud to have Bryna Von Dorsten on our team. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to integrity continue to inspire the work we do every day.
