Health Services

Our Health Services team delivers a comprehensive, student-centered approach to well-being by integrating expert school-based nursing, safe medication administration, and proactive management of chronic health conditions.

Led by a team of highly experienced, compassionate nurses, we are committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and healthy school environment where every student can thrive. Our services include vision and hearing screenings, individualized health plans, detailed health reporting, first aid and emergency response, and dedicated 1:1 support for medically fragile students.

In addition, we provide health office management, staff training, and ongoing collaboration with families and school personnel to ensure continuity of care. With a focus on prevention, early intervention, and personalized support, our team goes beyond basic care—promoting the overall health, safety, and academic success of every student.

Our nurses collaborate with school staff, therapists and parents to support the whole child, providing school based care, medication administration, and chronic condition support—aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

We deliver school-based healthcare services to medically fragile students, enabling them to remain engaged in both educational and social aspects of the school environment with the support of their school nurse.

We staff medical assistants, certified nurse assistants, licensed vocational nurses, registered nurses, and credentialed school nurses.

We also offer specialized professional development training for school staff to ensure the safety and well-being of medically fragile students. These trainings include seizure response, diabetes and insulin management, toileting and diapering procedures, understanding health plans, and more.

Strategies to improve student health include:

  • Direct Patient Care: Assessing injuries, treating acute illnesses, and dispensing prescribed medications in accordance with physician and district policies.

  • Chronic Disease Management: Creating individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with conditions such as severe allergies, seizures, or physical disabilities, allowing them to participate safely in class.

  • Health Assessments & Screenings: Performing routine checks for vision, hearing, and scoliosis to identify potential developmental issues early on.

  • Immunization & Compliance: Verifying vaccination records and reporting communicable diseases to ensure a safe learning environment.

  • Health Education: Teaching students and staff about best hygiene practices, nutrition, and wellness.

  • Collaboration & Advocacy: Participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to make sure students' medical needs are supported within the academic framework.

Our credentialed school nurses provide expert, state-compliant vision and hearing screenings for both general and special education students, ensuring adherence to California’s mandated health requirements. Using a streamlined and highly efficient scheduling and coordination system, we help our partners maintain full compliance while minimizing disruption to the school day.

In addition, our team prepares comprehensive health summary reports to support the development of students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), delivering accurate, timely, and actionable insights that contribute to effective, student-centered care planning. ‍
